Wisdom Teeth

  • Wisdom teeth are usually the last teeth to come through the gums, typically when we are in our late teens or twenties. In some cases, they can emerge at an even later stage.
  • Most people have four wisdom teeth. Problems may arise when there is not enough space at the rear of your jaws for wisdom teeth to emerge fully and be functional. They may become wedged in, or impacted.┬áSome impacted wisdom teeth remain in place and cause no trouble however, many will eventually trigger severe problems and must be removed.
  • The procedure for your wisdom teeth extraction will be safe and gentle. The Dentist will numb the area with local anaesthetic to alleviate any discomfort prior to the extraction. After the extraction, we will issue you with written post-operative instructions giving you information and directions to follow for a speedy recovery. This form will also advise you which medications to take if you are experiencing post-op pain.
